Description

This hot chocolate with oat milk is easy to make and it uses simple ingredients.  It only takes 5 minutes to make and it’s customizable to make your dairy-free hot chocolate extra special.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup oat milk
  • 2 tablespoons semi-sweet dairy-free chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon maple syrup
  • Pinch of salt, optional

Instructions

  1. Heat oat milk in a small saucepan on the stovetop on medium heat until it's hot but not boiling (steaming and tiny bubbles around the edge).
  2. Then whisk in the dairy-free chocolate chips, cocoa powder, maple syrup (or sugar), and salt (if using), and stir to combine.  Lower the heat if needed and stir frequently to not scorch the bottom of the pot.
  3. Once the chocolate chips have melted, serve immediately with your favorite toppings.

Notes

Don’t boil the milk, but warm it until it’s steaming and hot.

Add more maple syrup or granulated sugar if your chocolate chips are not sweet enough.  Dissolve it into the hot chocolate, taste it, and adjust if needed.

Add more cocoa powder if the sweet treat isn’t chocolatey enough for you.  Dissolve it into the hot chocolate, taste it, and adjust if needed.
