- 3-4 slices of bread depending on the size of the slices
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1-2 tomatoes, sliced
- 2 teaspoons fresh lemon or lime juice
- ⅛ teaspoon of garlic powder
- Pinch of salt, or to taste
- Toppings: sauerkraut, balsamic glaze, everything bagel seasoning
Instructions
- Toast the bread in a toaster or an oven.
- Slice the avocado in half vertically, and remove the pit.
- Remove the avocado flesh from the peel, place it in a bowl with lemon juice, garlic powder, and salt, then mash. You can leave it chunky or continue mashing until smooth.
- Taste and adjust seasonings if needed.
- Spread on toast and top with tomato slices. I like to sprinkle a little salt on top of the tomato slices.
- Then top with toppings.
Notes
The tomato avocado toast is best enjoyed immediately. The lemon juice only helps the avocado from immediately turning brown.
